When compared to other large urban centers across the United States, Toledo is often labeled as a second-rate Midwestern city and, as a result, many of its stories are hidden and unexplored. This series attempts to give agency to the various unmapped narratives within our city, putting us “In the Midst” of our community. Through an exploration of the cultural, historical, and innovative products of Toledo—from people, businesses, and organizations to events, initiatives, and policies—“In the Midst” highlights those who inhabit and have made a home in the swamp.
